Exceptional Teachers Quality Education In a Caring, Learning Environment
School Mission
Our school community is committed to the full development of the unique qualities, abilities and talents of all children, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge that will allow them to succeed at school and in the wider community in the 21st century. It is our aim to have this occur inside a safe learning community that is vibrant and responsive and hallmarked by an aesthetically appealing environment, respectful relationships between staff and students, tolerance and understanding of difference and diversity, broad community involvement, and high expectations on student learning.
The school offers the families of the Wyong community a world-class education conducted in a caring, nurturing and friendly environment. The students spend the exciting years of primary school in a learning community where outstanding teachers work in partnership with families to ensure the best possible start to their education.
Profile
Wyong Public School is situated on the Central Coast, north of Gosford. The township of WYONG was first established in 1887. The first Wyong School was opened on 2nd July 1888 in temporary premises known as Watt's Concert Hall. In May, 1889 the pupils moved to the Alison Road School. The school moved through a variety of arrangements, with the Wyong Grove PS site once being the infant’s component of the school.
In September 1979 the new K-6 school opened at the present site in Cutler Drive, Wyong.
We have 4 sports houses, which were originally formed and named in 1951.
Kookaburra (an abundant bird around the Central Coast Region)
Wallaby (common in the bush where the school is now located)
Platypus (often seen in the river)
Koala (which were plentiful in Wyong)
The design of Wyong Public School is still quite contemporary even though it was built 30 years ago. Its sizable classrooms, spacious playgrounds, lofts, annexes and wet areas provide a great learning environment for the students. The large library, of which we uphold with pride, is at the heart of the school. The school hall is the meeting point for weekly assemblies and major performances.
Parents & community members are welcomed partners in the learning process and many of them can be seen each day both inside classrooms and around the school. They hold a special place, working closely with teachers and students to provide the very best for our students.
Wyong School provides many opportunities for our students to grow & learn. The children benefit from strong, effective programs in Curriculum, Sport, Creative and Performing Arts, Technology and Cultural Activities.
